Reviews
I'm not particularly good at cooking, but decided to try this master class. Went alone, was a bit nervous. But the hostess turned out to be very friendly, showed everything. Really enjoyed cooking from scratch, even I as a beginner managed. First we kneaded the dough, then made baursaks. And we cooked beshbarmak in a kazan — that's something! The taste turned out rich. At the end everyone sat down at the table together, drank tea with kumys. Left with a feeling that I learned something real.
The hostess taught us to make manti! Delicious
My brother and I booked together, looking for something lively and not touristy. We got to the farm in the foothills, where the hostess met us at the yurt. She showed us brilliantly how to make baursaks, told the secrets of airy dough. We also cooked meat in a kazan and then ate it all together with kumis.
We were a bit late for departure, but it didn't spoil the experience. We cooked beshbarmak and ate it.
Osynda otta kazakshany, kurmet qatynymmen birge as aldydy, hazhaiymen kazyna
The hostess and her recipes are now my favorites
The hostess explained how to make kumys, cool
Flew to Almaty for the weekend with my wife, looking for some authentic activity. Friends recommended this tour. Went out of town to a farm. There the hostess met us, showed how to knead dough for baursaks, how to cook kazy. Everything was interesting and tasty. The lunch was a great success: we made beshbarmak ourselves, ate our fill. But the way back was long, it dragged on. Otherwise everything was good, I recommend it.
We were at a master class, learned to make manti and cook beshbarmak. The hostess is super
We gathered as a family, wanted to show the children Kazakh traditions, not just sit in a cafe. We cooked kazy and baursaks, the children were delighted, made manti with pumpkin together with everyone. The hostess told interesting stories, showed everything. But the return transfer dragged on a bit, we arrived later than we thought.
Stayed in Almaty for a week, and wanted something local, colorful. Found this tour online. Went together with my friend. The hostess was on top, explained and showed everything. We learned to make dough for baursaks, made manti with pumpkin. Especially memorable was cooking beshbarmak in a kazan — the aroma is incredible! Then there was a tasting, everything was very tasty. Left with recipes and a good mood. We will definitely come back again.
We had a great time and learned how to make samsa.
The hostess taught us to make baursaks, very tasty
The hostess taught us to cook beshbarmak, now I know how
We had a great time learning how to make zhent.
Came with family for the New Year holidays, wanted to introduce the kids to Kazakh traditions. Booked this master class. And didn't regret it! A wonderful master class, we cooked everything from scratch. First we kneaded the dough, then made baursaks and manti. The kids were delighted. The hostess showed everything and helped. Then we cooked beshbarmak in a kazan, added meat and spices. And when we sat down at the table, it was very tasty. Thanks for such a warm and educational day!
We chose the tour because of the reviews, no regrets. The hostess is a professional, taught us a lot
The hostess told everything about kazy, tasty
At first I was afraid it wouldn't work out, but under the hostess's guidance I made a whole cauldron of beshbarmak myself. Now I want to repeat it at home. The only thing was the road was bumpy, but that's a trifle
I chose the tour for the Kazakh cuisine. I was satisfied! The hostess taught me to cook beshbarmak and showed the secrets. But the way back was long, about 20 minutes
The hostess showed the secret of kazy, now we make it ourselves
Gathered with friends for a master class on Kazakh cuisine. Chose this tour to not just eat, but learn to cook ourselves. Liked everything: the hostess showed how to knead dough for baursaks, how to make manti. Then we cooked beshbarmak, added spices. The atmosphere is great, in the fresh air. But it was a bit bumpy in the bus on the way there, and that slightly spoiled the start. However, the cooking is super, the impressions remained good. At the end we tried everything we cooked and took the recipes home.
The tour was top-notch—we learned to bake baursaks!
We went with colleagues instead of a usual corporate party, wanted to spend the day unusually. The departure was a bit delayed but the master class was cool, the hostess explained and showed everything. We kneaded dough, made manti, cooked beshbarmak. At the end they arranged a tasting with tea, we left satisfied.
FAQ
We've collected the questions travelers ask most often. Didn't find your answer? Write to us — a guide will reply in a couple of minutes.
Ask a questionChildren usually enjoy the ethno-farm: they knead the dough, shape manti and baursaks, and then taste what they've made themselves. The pace is easy, and the whole day takes place on the farm in the open air, with no long walks. If you're coming as your own group, the format is private — the guide and the host will adapt to your pace.
Departure from central Almaty is at 09:00, and you'll arrive at the farm in the foothills of the Trans-Ili Alatau around 10:00. The return transfer starts at 15:00, so you'll be back at the meeting point in the city after lunch and the tasting. The exact return time depends on how quickly you get ready — the guide will let you know on the spot.
Bring comfortable clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting dirty with flour and dough, as well as a hat for the sun and a water bottle. A camera will come in handy — there are many colourful shots at the farm with the kazan and the yurt. All ingredients for the cooking are included in the price, and the kazan and kitchen are waiting at the farm.
The format is private, departures run daily, and we'll agree on the start time on request to suit your group. At the ethno-farm, cooking takes place in a yurt and in an open-air kitchen, so the guide and the host will tell you in advance via WhatsApp how best to arrange your group. The transfer by car from the meeting point in Almaty and back is included in the programme.
The day takes place at a single ethno-farm: you knead dough, shape manti and baursaks, help by the kazan and sit down at a shared table — there are no long walks or climbs in the programme. You'll only walk a little, mainly around the farm, so it suits older guests and those without sports training. If you get tired, the host will show you where to rest.
Message us on WhatsApp with the date you'd like to go and how many of you there will be — that's enough to book a place at the masterclass, no prepayment is needed. You can pay on the day of the trip: Kaspi, by card or in cash. If your plans change, cancellation is free — just let us know by message.
