How it works
Submit your request on the website or via WhatsApp. The manager will clarify your experience, number of days, and route preferences: Issyk-Kul, Karakol, Skazka, or trekking.

From 112 options, we choose the right one: a one-day jeep trip, a two-day hike with an overnight stay in a yurt, or a multi-day trek with drop-off.

The day before departure, you receive a list of personal gear. If needed, borrow a tent, sleeping mat, or stove from us — no extra rental fees.

At 6-7 AM, we meet in the city center. A minibus takes you to the border (Korday or Karkyra), crossing and meeting with a guide on the Kyrgyz side.

Jeep tours go off-road, hiking tours follow trails with altitude gain. Lunch is field-style (hot tea, canned food, flatbreads). On multi-day tours — overnight in tents or yurts.

After the final point of the route — return transfer across the border. Estimated arrival in Almaty — 8-10 PM. Photos and tips for the guide — optional.

We'll show what's included in the cost and where you can save without losing quality. Our tours to Kyrgyzstan from Almaty include transfer, meals, and insurance — no hidden fees. Our one-day trips to Kyrgyzstan cost from 3263 KZT per person, two-to-three-day trips from 18900 KZT, multi-day routes for 5–7 days from 61900 KZT. One-day tours to Kyrgyzstan from toor cost from 3263 KZT per person, two-to-three-day trips from 18900 KZT, multi-day routes for 5–7 days from 61900 KZT. A tour to Issyk-Kul from Almaty for 3263 KZT includes transfer, lunch, and insurance with no extra charges — this is the lowest price among all types. The 2–3 day hiking route for 18900 KZT adds tent and sleeping bag rental and meal preparation on a stove. The combined 5–7 day program for 61900 KZT covers full equipment, meals throughout the route, and processing of the border zone permit — without it, treks near the Kok-Ayryk pass and in the Ak-Suu gorge are inaccessible. The difference between the one-day and multi-day options is due not only to duration but also to the scope of services: multi-day trips add overnight stays in tents, cooking on the route, and bureaucratic procedures.

We conduct excursions to Kyrgyzstan from Almaty for every taste — from a jeep tour to a hiking trip. Three main formats — jeep tour, hiking trip, and combined option — differ in physical exertion, time, and budget. Let's break down who each is suitable for and what it offers.
A jeep tour to Kyrgyzstan from Almaty from toor takes place in a UAZ or Land Cruiser, up to 6 people per group, with no physical exertion — an ideal option for beginners, families with children, and those who want to see Issyk-Kul, the Fairy Tale Canyon, and the Kok-Ayryk pass (3100 m) in 1 day. The route covers up to 4–5 locations during daylight hours with stops for photos and lunch, while the entire journey is along mountain serpentines and dirt roads of the southern shore of Issyk-Kul. The driver-guide knows every pothole on the road and the most scenic spot for a panorama of the lake — this saves time that a hiking tourist would spend on a map and navigation. Such a trip is suitable for those who are afraid of heights or have health limitations: the route does not require walking, and the altitude is gained smoothly, without sharp changes.
A hiking tour to Kyrgyzstan from toor goes through the Ak-Suu, Barskoon, Jeti-Oguz, and Grigorievskoye gorges — distance up to 15 km per day, altitude from 1600 to 4000 m, suitable for people with average physical fitness. Each gorge has its own landscape: in Grigorievskoye — pine forest and waterfall, in Barskoon — canyons and alpine meadows, and in Jeti-Oguz — red rocks and thermal springs at the foot. The guide adjusts the group's pace considering acclimatization: at altitudes of 3000+ meters, they make rest stops every 40–50 minutes and check pulse — this reduces the risk of altitude sickness even for those at this altitude for the first time. On hiking trips, we provide trekking poles, tents, sleeping bags, and stoves for rent — a beginner doesn't need to buy expensive gear, just sneakers and a raincoat.
Our combined trips combine jeep transfers between locations and hiking excursions to hard-to-reach places — the optimal format for 5–7-day journeys when you want to both visit key points and walk in the mountains. A typical day: in the morning, the jeep drops the group at the start of the trek (e.g., to the Ak-Suu gorge), the group walks for 3–4 hours with a daypack, and after lunch, the vehicle waits at the finishing point and takes them to the overnight stay or next location. On the route, the jeep carries all equipment and provisions — the participant carries only a personal water bottle and camera, making the load comfortable even for people without sports experience. In the combined format, the jeep carries the group and equipment between bases, and the hiking transitions last 3–5 hours — this reduces fatigue and allows you to visit more locations than on a purely hiking route.
In one trip to Kyrgyzstan from Almaty, you can see a high-altitude lake, sandy rocks, and waterfalls. A trip to Kyrgyzstan with a guide means safety and maximum impressions without unnecessary hassle. Here are five locations worth including in your itinerary — from one-day to week-long.
Issyk-Kul is the main natural attraction of Kyrgyzstan, a salt lake at an altitude of 1600 m that doesn't freeze even in winter. In our programs, we go to the southern shore, where there are fewer tourists and cleaner water — it's 4-5 hours from Almaty via the Korday pass. On the southern coast lies the Fairy Tale Canyon: sandstone rocks of bizarre shapes, resembling castles, mushrooms, and animal figures, weathered over millennia. The water in Issyk-Kul is slightly saline — the salt concentration is about 6%, swimming is comfortable from June to September at temperatures of +18..+24°C. Plan a stop at the Fairy Tale rocks on your way back from the coast — the setting sun illuminates the sandstone orange, and photos turn out more contrasty than at noon.
Karakol is a city at the foot of the Tien Shan, a base for trekking in five gorges with different landscapes: from pine forests to red rocks and waterfalls.
The Kok-Ayryk pass (3100 m) is the point from which a panoramic view of Issyk-Kul opens from a height. Nearby are jailoo — summer camps of shepherds, where you can try kumis and spend the night in a yurt. The road to the pass goes along a serpentine with an elevation gain of 1500 m from the coast: by jeep, the ascent takes 40 minutes, on foot — 3-4 hours. At the jailoo, shepherds live from June to September — they milk mares three times a day, make kumis in leather bags, and boil kurt. In toor's jailoo tours, we stay with local families: you will see the real nomadic lifestyle, not a tourist attraction — you'll try fresh kumis and homemade kurt, which you won't find in city stores.
The road from Almaty to Kyrgyzstan takes from 3 to 6 hours depending on the checkpoint. Let's break down what documents are needed, where it's best to cross the border, and how the transfer is organized.
Citizens of Kazakhstan do not need a visa for Kyrgyzstan — a general civil passport or identity card is sufficient; children under 16 cross the border with a birth certificate with a citizenship mark accompanied by their parents. The passport must be valid at the time of entry; the replacement date does not matter — even an expired one is suitable if the document is not completely overdue. For routes near the border — Ak-Suu, Barskoon, Jeti-Oguz gorges — a permit to visit the border zone is required; the guide arranges it for the group 3 days before departure; the tourist just needs to inform the manager when booking.
| Checkpoint | Direction | Travel time from Almaty | Features |
|---|---|---|---|
| Korday | Northern shore of Issyk-Kul, Bishkek | 3–4 hours | Main, queues on weekends up to 1–2 hours |
| Karkyra | Southern shore of Issyk-Kul | 4–5 hours | Less crowded, road through the pass — closed in winter |
| Kegen | Eastern entrance, Karakol | 5–6 hours | Longer, but scenic — highway along the Kegen gorge |
If the trip starts from the northern shore of Issyk-Kul (Cholpon-Ata, Grigorievskoye gorge), we choose Korday — it's closer. For routes on the southern shore (Fairy Tale Canyon, Karakol), Karkyra or Kegen are more convenient — the 1–2 hour time difference is offset by the lack of traffic jams and views of the Kok-Ayryk pass from a height of 3100 m.
In toor tours, the transfer is included in the cost — the group gathers at Republic Square at 7:00–8:00 am and travels to the route's starting point, returning to the same place on the day of completion. Vehicles are Hyundai Staria or Toyota Hiace minibuses for 8–14 seats with air conditioning and a luggage compartment for backpacks. If you are planning a trip to Kyrgyzstan by car, you can join the group at the border — we agree on the meeting point a day before departure, but keep in mind: for jeep tours, we use prepared UAZ or Land Cruiser vehicles with differential locks that navigate mountain serpentines where a passenger car risks getting stuck.
Proper gear is half the success of a trip to Kyrgyzstan. Let's break down what you must bring yourself and what is provided for rent in toor tours.
| What to bring yourself | What toor provides |
|---|---|
| Thermos (1 L) | Trekking poles |
| Sunglasses | Tent (2–3-person) |
| SPF 50+ cream | Sleeping bag (comfort down to –5 °C) |
| First aid kit (band-aid, painkiller, enterosorbent) | Stove + gas |
| Headlamp | Dishes (bowl, cup, spoon) |
| Wet wipes | — |
Trekking poles are not an accessory but a necessity: they relieve up to 30% of the load on your knees during descents and help maintain balance on rocky sections. At toor, poles are adjusted to each participant's height before setting out on the route.
On toor's one-day hikes, we prepare a field lunch on a stove — usually soup, porridge with stewed meat, and tea, taking 30–40 minutes for the break. On multi-day routes, meals are three times a day: a hearty breakfast before departure, lunch during a rest break, and a hot dinner over a campfire or stove with stewed meat and vegetables. The menu is designed so that the dishes are filling but not heavy for digestion at altitudes of 2500–3500 m — we exclude fatty and spicy foods, focusing on grains and protein. If you have allergies or dietary restrictions — inform the guide 3 days before the start, and we will adjust the menu: replace stewed meat with chicken or remove gluten.
