I took a long time choosing between different tour companies, but settled on this one because of the reviews. No regrets. The itinerary was packed, and the views were incredible.

A tour for the strong in spirit, but it's worth it. Aidos is great, keeps discipline. I had long wanted to do the trek itself, not just a bus excursion, so I was looking for a route with real climbs. I went alone, but quickly found company in the group. The first day started early, but on the way we stopped at the canyon and walked among the rocks. Then we settled in the village. On the second day we walked to the lower lake, the climb wasn't easy at first, but on the shore we had lunch and it was very beautiful. Then we climbed to the middle lake, the views from there are stunning. The third day was the most intense — early ascent to the upper lake, and then descent to the flooded forest, we walked on bridges. Our legs were buzzing, but there were tons of emotions. Food is good, we stayed in guest houses, everything strictly on schedule.

The road from Almaty to the trailhead is long, 4 hours, but the views are worth it. Zhanna organized the food perfectly. Recommend bringing trekking poles.

Everything is super. Only I would have liked more time for photos at Kolsai Lake. Otherwise, well done. My husband and I decided to spend the autumn weekend not at home but in the mountains; we had been eyeing this route for a long time. I'm not a very experienced tourist, but the pace turned out to be comfortable. The road from the city took quite a while, but on the way we stopped at the canyon and stretched our legs. On the second day we reached the lower lake, the water is clear and very calm. Lunch on the shore was timely. We climbed to the middle lake already tired, but the landscapes are worth it. It's just a pity that at Kolsai Lake itself I wanted to linger longer and take photos without rushing. Organization is good, the guide told us everything, the group is friendly.

I chose this tour because I wanted an active vacation. I got the full spectrum: mountains, lakes, campfires. The downside was one participant constantly whining, but that's not the tour company's fault.

We enjoyed the tour. But we would have liked a heads-up that good boots are needed — one participant's boots fell apart.

The tour is designed for the prepared — I barely made it, but it was worth it! A friend persuaded me to go for company, though I usually prefer the beach. I decided to try, especially since I had long wanted to see these lakes. The first day was a warm-up — canyon and transfer to the village. But on the second day, when we went to the lower lake, I understood what a real trek is, I was breathing like a steam engine on the climb. The group supported me, no one rushed. We reached the middle lake, had lunch on the shore, caught our breath. The third day was the hardest — early ascent and a long way to the upper lake, and then descent to the flooded forest. But when you stand by the water and look at these mountains, all the fatigue goes somewhere. My legs hurt for a couple more days, but the impressions will last a year.

Took the tour on a friend's advice. Didn't go wrong. Beautiful, tasty, friendly. My friend had already done this route before and talked my ear off about the lakes. My brother and I went together, he also loves mountains. First day — road, canyon, overnight in the village, everything went smoothly. On the second day we climbed to two lakes, the ascent is noticeable, but at the top we had a picnic. The third day was the longest — we walked to the upper lake, then descended to the flooded forest, it's very unusual there, you walk on bridges between trunks. We returned tired but satisfied. The food was good, portions normal. Overall, I recommend it to those who are ready to walk.

Went with my friend, we'd long dreamed of seeing all three lakes in one hike. The guide told us everything about the legends of Kolsai. It's a pity the weather let us down, one day it rained.

Ask a question

There are two hiking days. On day two we hike to the Lower Lake (4 km, 300 m of ascent) and on to the Middle Lake, another 5 km and 400 m up. On day three we climb to the Upper Lake, 6 km and 500 m of ascent, then go down to Kaindy and walk the boardwalks. Day one is just a walk in Charyn's Valley of Castles, and day four is the drive back to Almaty. You need basic fitness and proper trekking shoes.

To be honest: this trek to the three Kolsai Lakes is designed for people with basic physical fitness, because the hiking days involve 300–500 m climbs on 4–6 km stretches. Overnight stays are in guesthouses, no tents, but the exertion is noticeable. If you have doubts about a specific age or health condition, message us on WhatsApp — we'll give you honest advice for your group.

The essentials are trekking shoes with good tread, because the trails in the Kungey Alatau are rocky and slippery in places. Bring a warm jacket and a raincoat: mountain weather can turn sharply, even if it's hot in Almaty. You'll also need a 30–40 L backpack, a 1.5 L bottle, a head covering, sunscreen and a personal first-aid kit with plasters.

Early departure from the city on the first day is at six thirty in the morning, because we travel to Charyn Canyon and then on to Saty in one day. We'll confirm the meeting point in the city for your date on WhatsApp — closer to departure, once the group has come together. Being late will shift the whole program, so it's better to arrive early.

Yes, overnight stays in guesthouses for all three nights, meals on the hikes, the work of a guide-instructor, transfer from Almaty and back, eco fees and the first-aid kit are already included in the price. Separately, on the first day you pay for lunch at a café on the way to Charyn, personal expenses such as souvenirs and drinks, and accident insurance if you decide to take it out.

Our tour to the three Kolsai Lakes runs as a group format on a schedule, so there will be other tourists in the group. If you want your own group, message us on WhatsApp — we'll check what's actually possible for your dates. But by default, departure is a shared group.

We hold your booking for the trek to the three Kolsai Lakes and Kaindy based on your message on WhatsApp — we don't take a deposit, and we secure your place right away. You pay the guide on the day of departure from Almaty: via Kaspi, by card or in cash. If your plans change, cancelling the booking is free.
